Handling Equipment
I use the best equipment available when it comes to safety and quality. I exclusively use products made by Midwest Tongs.com.
These are products that are reliable and keep me safe when working with my venomous collection. There is no room for error when it comes to handling venomous reptiles, and Midwest products are the best available. Combined with strength, craftsmanship and reliability, the products are second to none.
Here are my favorites:
First tool I reach for when working my venomous collection is the Professional Snake Hook™ made by Midwest. I love this hook! This hook is made with the same materials as their Pro Field Hook™ except the hook is configured to work with snakes. The hook is also made of strong titanium. This hook is 45″ long. My absolute favorite.
Second hook I use is the Standard Hook. The hook insert is made from a solid anodized aircraft grade aluminum rod. Made with a slightly flexible stainless steel shaft and an aluminum hook 3 1/2 inches wide at the end. I use this hook as a second tool when moving my Eastern Diamondbacks.
I also use Midwest’s Python Hook, the python hook is the strongest hook known today. It has a huge wide jaw opening of 5 1/2’’ and a blue anodized tube 55’’ long. This hook provides extra support for my largest Diamondbacks, and also gives me extra distance when moving aggressive large snakes.
I also use several other hooks and products by Midwest and they include the Ultra-Light Mini Hook™ which is 24 inches long (perfect for baby Eastern’s), the Midwest Collapsible Hook which extends from 17 to 39 inches, the Narrow Standard hook which is shorter than the regular Standard hook with a smaller hook opening.
I also keep handy a pair of Gentle Giant 40″ “Super Tongs” that uses heavier gauge aluminum tubing with interior wall thickness of .090 inch, and a regular pair of 40″
Standard Tongs.
When you work with the largest rattlesnake in the world, only the best equipment will do! I count on it and you can too!
I highly recommend the products made by Midwest Tongs and I am proud to purchase their products as they are made solely in the USA!
